A home solar panel system in Malaysia costs about RM15,000 to RM45,000 in 2026, depending on its size. A 4 kW system starts at RM15,000 and a 12 kW system reaches RM45,000. The price covers panels, inverter, mounting, wiring, the Solar ATAP application and installation.
Solar Panel Prices in Malaysia 2026
The price of a home solar system depends mostly on its size. Size is measured in kilowatts (kW). The right size depends on how much electricity you use in the daytime.
Here is what SolarKita's home systems cost in 2026.
Residential Solar System Costs
| System Size | Price Range | Monthly Savings | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 kW | RM15,000 - RM18,000 | RM200 - RM350 | Small terrace houses |
| 6 kW | RM20,000 - RM25,000 | RM300 - RM500 | Medium terrace/semi-D |
| 8 kW | RM25,000 - RM30,000 | RM400 - RM600 | Semi-D / small bungalow |
| 10 kW | RM30,000 - RM38,000 | RM500 - RM750 | Large semi-D / bungalow |
| 12 kW | RM35,000 - RM45,000 | RM600 - RM900 | Bungalow / large homes |
Prices are estimates. The final figure depends on your roof, your location and the equipment in your quotation.
Under Solar ATAP, a home on single-phase supply can install up to 5 kW. Larger systems need three-phase supply, up to 15 kW.
What Is Included in the Price?
A solar installation package covers the whole job:
- Solar panels
- Inverter, which turns the panels' DC power into the AC power your home uses
- Mounting system of aluminium rails and stainless steel brackets
- Wiring and electrical work
- Solar ATAP application
- Commissioning and testing
- Warranty on the panels and the inverter
The warranty differs by package. Compare the three packages to see the terms.
Ask for the brand and model of the panels and the inverter in writing. Two quotations at the same price can contain very different equipment.

What Changes the Price
- System size. A larger system costs more in total but less per kW.
- Inverter type. A hybrid inverter, which can work with a battery, costs more than a grid-tied one.
- Battery. Storage is the biggest single addition. See on-grid, hybrid and off-grid systems.
- Roof type. Tile roofs take more mounting work than metal roofs.
- Panel and inverter brand. Equipment from different makers is priced differently.
The SuRIA Home Rebate
The SuRIA Home cash rebate pays eligible homes RM600 per kWac, up to RM3,000. It is for systems installed under Solar ATAP and commissioned by 31 December 2026. TNB pays it into your bank account once the system is running.
- 4 kW system: RM15,000 less RM2,400 is RM12,600 after the rebate
- 8 kW system: RM28,000 less RM3,000 is RM25,000 after the rebate
Our guide to the SuRIA Home rebate explains who qualifies.
How Long Until It Pays for Itself?
The table shows the monthly savings we estimate for each size. At those savings, most homes recover the cost in four to six years.
Your own figure depends on how much of the solar power you use directly. Under Solar ATAP, power used in the daytime saves the most. A home that is empty all day gains less than one that runs air conditioning in the afternoon.
How to Get an Accurate Price
A price from a table is a starting point. For a real quotation we need three things:
- Your latest TNB bill, which shows how much you use
- Photos of your roof, or a site visit
- Whether your supply is single-phase or three-phase

What is the cheapest solar system for a home?

Does the price include the Solar ATAP application?
Yes. Every SolarKita package includes the Solar ATAP application, installation, commissioning and warranty.
Why do solar quotations differ so much?
Mostly because of system size, the inverter type, whether a battery is included, and the brand of the equipment. Compare quotations by brand, model and warranty, not by price alone.
